Widhalm Custom Home's Featured Model
“The Malibu” is a
concept plan designed and developed by Pete Widhalm that offers
creative styling unlike anything seen before. This model home
is an inspired California penthouse design with Organic Modern
and Asian influences. With over 2,900 s.f. on the main level,
this home offers some of the most progressive finishes available.
From the outside you will notice Widhalm’s focus on Modern
architectural elements with the use of hand cut slate in a stacked
geometric pattern, a low slung roof,
and a floating slab concrete staircase.
Inside you will experience the unique flow of this design that
makes it feel as if it were pulled from the pages of Architectural
Digest. With sustainability in mind, the entry consists of a
stamped and stained concrete floor
and a planked wood ceiling constructed
of salvaged materials that warms and invites.
In the kitchen the feel is modern with concrete
countertops incorporated into a huge center island, sleek
blonde birch cabinets with a full window back splash, and state
of the art stainless steel appliances. From the kitchen there
is a wonderful view of the lake that can be appreciated from

Back inside there is a centralized dining room that is surrounded
by built-ins that contain decorative
niches and four planters that
give a warm organic touch. A floating
ceiling above has refracted lighting that provides the ambiance
for a relaxing dining experience.
The expansive great room with three zones quickly captures your
interest. The media area with a built-in entertainment cabinet,
a vaulted ceiling, and a wall of windows make this room open
and inviting. Next, there is a free standing two-sided fireplace
that separates the intimate hearth area just beyond. Last, there
is a bar alcove that is great for
entertaining that incorporates space for wine and keg refrigerators.
The exclusive design of the master
suite is beyond compare. The elevated bed chamber is divided
by a huge stacked stone wall and
built-in dressers that lead to symmetrical vanities and walk-in
closets. On the opposite side of the stone wall there is a two
person shower with a pebble floor and solid surface concrete
walls that are intersected by a soaking tub.
