As a builder it has always amazed me that the inspection process for new homes can be so thorough and it does not include an inspection process for the insulation system. As a result I have always taken it upon myself to inspect and improve the insulation in all of my homes. I have found this is not always well received by the insulation companies who have become used to the status quo of the unregulated process. I have always felt the insulation system of the home is one of the most important aspects of a quality built home. I feel this way because poor insulating has such a direct impact on not only energy use, but also the inevitable long term costs associated with a poorly insulated home.

Widhalm Custom Homes Energy Star Program Overview

Widhalm Custom Homes is offering Energy Star Compliant Homes based on an energy efficiency standard developed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Energy Starqualified homes are at least 15 percent more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC). Energy Starqualified homes are five-star rated and nationally recognized for greater value, lower operating costs, increased durability, comfort, and safety.
Green Building is not just about the impact on the environment.
